42magnets let you turn any image into a really nice fridge magnet. Delivery is international with services to 12 countries (US, Europe and Eastern Europe/Russia). With a variety of styles to choose from we were pretty impressed. The company is only a month old but have hit the 500 order mark already – small numbers, but if they can bootstrap this profitably it could be a very nice niche, proving that web startups selling physical products can be cross border/international in scope too.

Chatwing is a super simple embeddable chat widget for any site. Boston based Chatwing launched in February and seem to have nailed the implementation side, embedding the code is easy. A nice touch is the now obligatory Facebook and Twitter integration that most apps nowadays feature, often it doesn’t make sense and feels like a bolton but in this case it feels a bit more logical. WordPress and Blogspot auto-integration would speed up the adoption process no doubt though.

There are existing players in this space like Whoson – although their solution is paid at around $40 a month.

The only question we have is – what’s the monetization strategy? Wibya have done a great job of creating a huge ad inventory with their embeddable toolbars, but a freemium model might be more lucrative in this case.

The freebie market seems saturated but when we looked at the competitors – a lot of them appear to just be referral and link building pyramids without much use for the end user, so there could be space for a more user friendly site.
